El poema La silla de Van Gogh está enfocado sobre lo que el artista pudo pensar en aquel tiempo. El cuadro refleja una silla pintada de amarillo en una estancia austera, con un pañuelo o papel arrugado y una pipa en el asiento, con una caja al fondo. En una carta a su hermano Theo le contó que la silla le traía los recuerdos de su padre en la última visita que le hizo.
Este poema es del libro Versos para Van Gogh (Editorial Sial Pigmalión) y está recitado por el actor dramaturgo Juanjo Reiz.
